During the course of my own research on how to keep my house plants healthy, I realized that taking care of our house plants was not as difficult as I had assumed it to be!
There are a bunch of natural ingredients used everyday in the kitchen that can be easily turned into natural organic fertilizers, fungicides or insecticides to keep the plants nourished and healthy.
Proper fertilizing leads to bigger blooms, more abundant harvests, and overall happier plants.
If you are also a plant parent like me, looking forward to taking care of your parents on a budget and hassle free, then here are some ways of keeping your plants healthier using the most accessible ingredients, more than usual available at our homes.
- 3G bio solution– It is a very potent pest control solution.
Requirements:
100 gram ginger
100 gram garlic
100 gram green chillies
Grind these three ingredients together and mix this paste in 10 liters of water, stir it well and keep for 24 hours. After 24 hours, the solution can be used for pest control. 1 liter of the solution needs to be diluted with 10 liters of water to be used as spray for pest control on any plant.
2. Rice bio solution– The Rice bio solution is sprayed on the leaves and twigs to check mealybug on the plants.
Requirements:
1 liter water
1 liter water bottle
100 grams rice
Boil 100g rice in 1 liter of water. When the rice is completely cooked in water, the cooked rice is separated by filtering it and rice water is retained. Equal quantities of rice water solution and water are mixed together and used for controlling mealybug insects on leaves and twigs of the plant.
3. Bio fungicide– It is also a very good growth booster.
Requirements:
2 liters buttermilk
1 copper vessel
Put buttermilk in a copper vessel and keep it for 2 weeks. The Buttermilk in the copper vessel returns into copper oxychloride after reacting with copper. 100 g of this solution is added to 1 liter of water. Add a pinch of turmeric to it and use it on the plants. For every use, dilute the already made copper oxychloride solution with water and use it instantly.
